Hate it or love it, you have to admit that the Schezwan dishes are amongst the most commonly ordered dishes in our country (Following other dishes like Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken etc. ofcourse). This is simply because its flavours cater perfectly to the spicy Indian palate. Hence, every time we enter a Chinese restaurant we almost instinctively order a plate of Schezwan noodles/rice, but how much do we really know about this flaming cuisine?

Schezwan cuisine or rather Sichuan cuisine (A.K.A. Szechaun Cuisine) is a style of Chinese cuisine originating from Sichuan province in South-Western China. It’s known for its bold flavours, particularly the pungency and spiciness resulting from liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique flavour of the Sichuan pepper. Sichuan cuisine is known to compose of seven basic flavours: sour, pungent, hot, sweet, bitter, aromatic, and salty, which is quite similar to Indian food. This got us thinking and brought us to the conclusion that Schezwan chutney is the perfect remedy to spice up almost any common & sometimes boring Indian dishes.
